About Gizmo

Dog Name: Gizmo Approximate Age: 2 Years Gender: Female Dog friendly: Yes Cat friendly: Yes Child friendly: Yes (recommended 8+) House trained: Yes Crate trained: Yes Fence needed : Preferred but not needed Energy level: High Temperament: Shy/ Timid initially, but once comfortable, she is very outgoing Foster location: Sioux Falls, SD Adoption Fee: $400 About me: Hi! I’m Gizmo, but my foster family calls me GiGi. I may be a little shy when we first meet, but don’t let my first impression fool you—I just need a little time to figure out that you’re safe. When I meet new people, I can be very timid. I might pull away, run and hide, or keep my distance. I’m not being unfriendly—I’m just nervous! I do best when people let me approach them on my own terms and give me the space I need to feel comfortable. Once I trust you and feel safe, you’ll see a completely different side of me. And THAT GiGi is a blast. Once I’m comfortable, I’m outgoing, playful, silly, and very talkative. I get the zoomies around the house and sometimes get so excited that I literally run into the walls. I love to prance around when I’m excited and have even been known to do little flips in the air! I also LOVE going for walks. I get especially excited when I see a squirrel or bunny because, obviously, I must chase it. I do have some important personal-space boundaries. I don’t like feeling crowded, closed in, or like someone is getting too close when I’m not ready. If I feel trapped, that’s when my anxiety can really kick in. Giving me the ability to move away and choose when I want to interact helps me feel safe and builds my confidence. Once I know I can trust you, though? Get ready for the real GiGi to come out. She’s goofy, energetic, affectionate in her own way, and full of personality. I’m looking for someone who understands that trust takes time and is willing to let me come out of my shell at my own pace. In return, you’ll get to watch a very special little dog blossom into the silly, confident girl she really is. *AHCR cannot guarantee any breed/possible breed of the dogs in our care or the size they will be full grown.
