Pahi didn’t have the easiest start in life, but she’s proof that with patience, love, and the right people in her corner, amazing transformations can happen. Pahi came to a rural shelter with porcupine quills embedded in her face. She needed multiple trips to the veterinarian to have them safely removed—a pretty scary experience for a dog who already wasn't sure if the world is always a safe place. And perhaps the hardest part? No one had ever taught Pahi that humans = love. Because of that, it took her some time to trust people and feel comfortable enough to let her personality shine. She was understandably shy and unsure at first, but she has come so incredibly far! Pahi is still building her confidence, but every day she shows us a little more of the sweet girl hiding underneath that initial uncertainty. She absolutely loves other dogs, and her canine friends have been a huge part of helping her blossom. She enjoys going to doggy daycare and playgroup, where she gets to socialize and have fun with her friends. Pahi is also working hard on her training with her friends at Nerdy K9 Academy, and she’s learning that trying new things can be rewarding—and that people can be pretty great, too! (and pup cups!) She enjoys playtime and having fun, but she isn't a super high-energy dog who needs to be on the go constantly. She’s happiest when she can enjoy some play, spend time with her friends, and continue gaining confidence at her own pace. Pahi is looking for a special family who understands that trust is earned and is willing to give her the patience, consistency, and encouragement she needs. She may not be the dog who runs up to a stranger and immediately asks for belly rubs, but watching Pahi learn to trust and love her people is incredibly rewarding. Her past may have been rough, but Pahi's future doesn't have to be. She has come so far—and we're excited to see just how far she can go with a family of her own. *AHCR cannot guarantee any breed/possible breed of the dogs in our care or the size they will be full grown. All of our animals are fixed, microchipped, started on age appropriate vaccines, dewormed, and on a flea/tick and heart worm preventative prior to adoption.
