About Nessie

Dog Name: Nessie Approximate Age: 1 year Gender: Female Dog friendly: Yes Cat friendly: No Child friendly: Yes House trained: Yes Crate trained: Working on it Fence needed : Yes Energy level: High Temperament: Outgoing, playful, affectionate Foster location: Parker, SD Adoption Fee: $350 About me: Meet Nessie! She’s an outgoing girl who is going to be so thrilled to meet you. Going for a walk? She’d love to join you. Hanging out in the yard? She’s rolling in the grass at your feet. Curling up on the couch for a relaxing night in? She’s so there. There’s only one requirement as far as Nessie’s concerned. There must be belly rubs! Nessie has a big heart and a sharp mind. Since getting to her foster home, she’s been quickly learning the house rules. Her fast progress is even more impressive considering one little detail. Nessie is deaf. But even though she can’t hear you say ‘good girl’, she knows what you mean by the smile on your face. She pays close attention and is always trying to pick up on cues for what she’s supposed to do. After just a few days, she learned hand signals for ‘sit’, ‘come’ and ‘down’ and knows to wait at the door when she needs outside. Nessie has already made huge strides during her time in rescue and would love a family that can keep challenging her. She walks well on leash and is a pro at fetch but will give chase if she sees a rabbit. Potential adopters should be aware that Nessie has a strong prey drive so it’s not recommended she go to a house with feline friends. Dog friends are encouraged though! Nessie has been friendly with the dogs she’s met so far and has given every indication that she’d love a playmate. She’s just as happy to play with human friends though and has enjoyed meeting the kids in her current neighborhood. As a young dog, she’s got a lot of energy to burn and would do well in an active home. Reach out to meet Nessie today; she can’t wait to be your new best friend! *AHCR cannot guarantee any breed/possible breed of the dogs in our care or the size they will be full grown.
