About Birdie

Dog Name: Birdie Approximate Age: 5 years Gender: Female Dog friendly: Yes Cat friendly: Unknown Child friendly: Yes House trained: Yes Crate trained: Yes Fence needed : No Energy level: Low-Medium Temperament: Friendly, Calm Foster location: Baltic Adoption Fee: $350 About me: Meet Birdie! This sweet girl is looking for her forever home, and she just might steal your heart! Birdie is approximately 5 years old and about 25 pounds of pure love—though she's working on slimming down to a healthier 20 pounds, so her new family will need to help her stay on track with measured meals and regular exercise. (She'll thank you for it!) On the Go: Birdie loves her walks! She does pull a bit on the leash, so she's currently using a freedom harness and doing great with it. We'd recommend her new family continue with a no-pull harness to keep those walks fun and manageable for everyone. At Home: Birdie is fully potty trained and has come a long way in her foster home. She is kennel trained, though she's not the biggest fan of her crate—and she's proven herself so trustworthy that she now has free roam of the house, including overnight and when her foster family is away. What a good girl! With People & Pets: Birdie is a people lover through and through. She's wonderful with kids and gets along great with other dogs. She hasn't been exposed to cats, so a slow, careful introduction would be recommended if you have feline family members. Birdie is ready to be your loyal, loving companion. Could you be her perfect match? A Few Things to Know: Birdie is not a hypoallergenic breed—she does shed and will need regular grooming to keep her coat healthy and your furniture a little less furry. She also took some time to warm up to dog food (she has opinions), but her foster family has found success mixing wet and dry food together. *AHCR cannot guarantee any breed/possible breed of the dogs in our care or the size they will be full grown. All of our animals are fixed, microchipped, started on age appropriate vaccines, dewormed, and on a flea/tick and heart worm preventative prior to adoption.
